Finally had enough parental nagging and convinced them that I’ll be able to make money at The Clothing Show this weekend. I already spent the week whipping up some more gold lame and have a bunch to sell.
Looking for jobs is so lame when I can build my own empire.

Mom Seriously Doesn’t Get It
April 29th, 2008 · No Comments
She e-mailed me two jobs for Gap Sales Associates, one fast-food fry cook, a junior travel agent listing, and one for a Tim Hortons cashier. Really? She wants me to sell donuts?

Online Sophisticate

I saw that Juma launched their online store, which I think will make a great story: How to be an Online Sophisticate. I will chronicle my online purchases on camera. My viewers are going to love it. Sometimes I am impressed by my own brilliance.

Gah! Mom called to tell me, “You could be a bank teller until you get your clothing company off the ground…”

TV Work
April 28th, 2008 · No Comments
It’s time to work on my television pilot. How can I translate “Sophisticated City” from print to TV? Obviously I will have to have my signature top ten list to end the show. Or should it lead the show? Very important question to consider.

Ripping Off Designers

Today’s job search sucked. Couldn’t believe this ad:
“Reporting to the Marketing Department, this design position requires hyper-knowledge of trends. Designer must be able to see runway designs and translate them into marketable patterns. Long hours mandatory. Since this is an internship position, financial compensation will not be negotiable.”
They copy right off the runway? Lame.

All the New Labels contestants got so much attention and praise that I think maybe I made a mistake by starting at Fashion Week. Maybe I should enter New Labels next year.

New Labels Gala
April 25th, 2008 · 2 Comments
I simply adore analyzing gala outfits, but I like it best when everyone adores mine. Thanks to Katya Revenko’s ultra-wide Vinona pants, I felt like the spiritual fashion sister of Katherine Hepburn. A sequinned tank was a perfect complement.
The partnership of Elle Canada and the Toronto Fashion Incubator is a marvelous match; not only […]
