What a lunch. After berating me for Basher-infected prose when I should have focused on fashion, my editor enforced a punishment-assignment: a comedian profile.
Oh, how I loathe comedians. They try so desperately to make people laugh, it makes me depressed. Notoriously hideous interview subjects, they alternate from attention-craving fools to melancholy misanthropes, trying to make good impressions. There’s no more incorrigable idiot than Jim Carrey. He makes stupid movies like Stupider and Stupider. I’ll have to pack my Prada purse with pepper spray to keep him controlled. Hmmm….maybe Prada makes designer pepper spray. I’ll have to check into that.
Her point is made. I have never had a “warning” in my life; how dreadfully embarrassing. At least I get to travel to Los Angeles and stay at the Chateau Marmont over the weekend to interview him. Since it is the most glamorous, sophisticated hotel with an intriguing history, perhaps I’ll try to stay longer and pitch a fashion-related Marmont story to some publications. FQ would totally love it.
