Fifty Four Fabulous at Buy Design

For tonight’s Buy Design Studio 54 themed celebration for Windfall Clothing Service, Lady Miss Angora chose the perfect vintage Halston dress I found at Paper Bag Princess.

It was such a deliciously decadent disco event, but Fiona couldn’t accept that it was for a good cause and did her best to ruin my night – again. She outbid me on an utterly fabulous dress by Greta Constantine. She was a complete Auction-Stalker, following me around, upping the prices on anything I wanted.

Then Mimi M. thought we were in high school (like she should have been!) and confronted me with a drunken “Why don’t you like me?” speech in the bathroom. After I told her that her new boyfriend Brad Basher was my ex-husband, she swore she had no idea and begged me for our story. All of the cocktails must have affected my judgment, because I gave in and told her about my Montreal years studying journalism at McGill and how I met Basher at the one and only party where he was sober.

I don’t know if Mimi M. could understand the chemistry that Basher and I share; we’re such different people and so right and wrong for each other at the same time. I can’t understand it myself. But being a hockey girlfriend made my writing career. People loved my PuckBunny Diaries, even if now I am a bit embarrassed by them. I was so happy that I got the opportunity to return to fashion through writing and rediscover my love of good design…

Did I tell her too much? It felt so weird to talk about it; I never do. Since it was so long ago, I never like to bring it up. And I dislike talking about other people behind their backs; it is so unsophisticated.
