Toronto’s It Girls and It Boys

In EYE this week, Kate Carraway wrote about Toronto’s lack of buzzworthy media players and I think she’s wrong. There are tons and tons of interesting, cool people here!

First, there’s Sandee, Elmo, and me. We’re totally the funnest, most creative people ever.

Then there’s a bunch of other neat people. Instead of complaining that we aren’t New York City, why don’t journalists write about these people who are making Toronto super-fun?

Matt Sims - He’s a DJ, party promoter, and all-around cute, cute, cutie-pie! Toronto is a better place with his Dopplehertz parties.

Caitlin Cronenberg - She brings strong edginess to the Canadian photography scene and has shot for indie bands to tons of international mags. One gossip guy also called her “dishy”. He’s right. I kinda have a girl-crush on her.

Tim Deegan - Sure, he was on that lame VJ search, but um… he’s like the hottest Much Music VJ ever! I always see him around and I don’t tell my boyfriend this, but I always drool a little whenever he’s near. He’s a babe.

Eva Shaw - Not just another pretty face (who’s modeled for Parasuco, Zink, and Teenflo), she’s the queen of the scene!

Lucian Matis - Lucian is going to be Canada’s first designer superstar. And he’s got this hot Euro-babe attitude going for him.

Jeremy Laing - He’s an amazing designer and he’s getting great attention in New York!

The Deadly Nightshades - What’s better than an all-girl bike gang? The Deadly Nightshades are a group of 5 girls who save the environment through eco-design, and have a blast spreading their gospel while riding through Toronto streets.

Alice and Ethan from Crystal Castles - Crystal Castles totally rule and their shows cause riots in the UK. How cool is that?

Sarah Nicole Prickett - Sarah’s got great style and writes about fashion on her own blog and on torontoist. She’s totally going to be the next Lucinda McRuvy.
