Today I have to make the toughest decision faced by a culture writer: what event should I attend when they both weigh equally in arts importance?

Tomorrow night is the Toronto International Film Festival’s Opening Night Gala and afterparty. And tomorrow night is Toronto designer Philip Sparks’s New York debut at the prestigious GenArt show.

Which one should I attend? I’ll think about it during the opening parties for two new Queen Street Stores. Buckler is bringing New York edge together with London mod for stylish menswear and Preloved is reopening the store lost to fire earlier this year. I look forward to the clothes in each shop.
