Bathroom Tissue Couture?

September 19th, 2008 · No Comments

Today I saw some designs I never thought I would enjoy, but did. They were made out of bathroom tissue (white and limited-edition pink, to be exact).
Susan Langdon from the TFI curated the collection of designs from Evan Biddell, Joeffer Caoc, Joyce Gunhouse and Judy Cornish for Comrags, David Dixon, Thien Le, Lucian Matis, Arthur [...]

Am I a Gossip Girl?

September 19th, 2008 · No Comments

I was out at MACFab today picking up some trim when I overheard two girls gossiping about L’Oréal Fashion Week. They said they heard that one designer who is showing runs a sweatshop full of little kids. Were they talking about me? Eeep!

Dr. Valerie Steele and ILORI Celebrate Gothic Glamour

September 18th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Dr. Valerie Steele is an inspiring fashion academic. The FIT curator has a new exhibition and book on Gothic style and luxury sunglass boutiquie ILORI celebrated it by bringing Dr. Steele to Toronto. ILORI also created a Dark Angels sunglass collection, so I tried on a pair of Loree Rodkin sunglasses while speaking with the [...]

Project Runway Canada: Did I See a Finalist?

September 18th, 2008 · No Comments

I was running around Toronto today, dropping off lookbooks at every store I possibly could and trying to meet boutique owners, but man! Those owners and buyers are elusive. You’d think they’d want to talk to new designers with great ideas.
Anyway, when I was on Queen West, I think I saw Project Runway Canada filming [...]

I Got a Buy at Bye!

September 17th, 2008 · No Comments

I didn’t want to miss Mariette again, so I got up early and sat in the entrance of Bye! an hour before it opened and organized my rolling racks in front so she could see my entire collection. I saw her walk down the street, and again she seemed really surprised to see me, even [...]

Follow that Cab!

September 16th, 2008 · No Comments

I tried to stop at Bye! again, but saw Mariette leave her store and catch a taxi. I really wanted to talk to her, so I jumped in one too and yelled, “Follow that cab!” It was hilarious! Just like a movie.
She stopped at an office building and seemed surprised to see me again. She [...]

TFI Press Breakfast

September 16th, 2008 · No Comments

How I do enjoy the Toronto Fashion Incubator’s Press Breakfast.  I have the opportunity to snack on fruit and yoghurt and catch up will all my friends: Susan Langdon, Linda Gaylard, Nathalie Atkinson, and everyone who reports on Canadian fashion.
I absolutely adore discovering new designers, so I visited each booth. I especially liked D’Mila’s chic [...]

L’Oréal Fashion Week Announces Lineup

September 15th, 2008 · 1 Comment

L’Oréal Fashion Week posted its schedule online, but journalists weren’t talking about designers today. The real news: increased charges to attend. I can understand charging bloggers for media access because they aren’t real media anyway (and they clogged up the media room last season), but charging journalists in traditional media? I can hardly fathom it. [...]

Closed on Mondays!

September 15th, 2008 · No Comments

Mariette must be so busy that she forgot that her store is closed on Mondays!
Luckily, I’m smart, so I found her home address and knocked on the door. She wasn’t home, so I left her another lookbook.
