It is hard to believe that Comrags is celebrating twenty-five years in business. It feels like it was yesterday when I first saw designers Joyce Gunhouse and Judy Cornish profiled on Fashion Television during the show’s early seasons. Their success showed me that Canadian fashion designers could make it.
Naturally, I stopped by the Comrags store on Queen Street to examine the retrospective of artifacts from the 1980’s to today, and what a statement it is about Canadian fashion. It will only be up until November 30, when it is replaced by its annual sock monkey charity sale. This year, the studio made twenty-five one-of-a-kind sock monkeys to be sold for $60 each to benefit the Florence Booth House, an emergency women’s shelter. I love it when fashion cares.
