15 MINUTES (’til last call) is the BEST SHOW EVER!

November 14th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Tonight was the super-special, ultra-VIP screening of 15 MINUTES (’til last call) at CiRCA. In honour of Andy Warhol and his 15 minutes of fame prediction, I made my very own homage to his Campbell’s soup can, but with my own “Pärty MÖnster” beer in homage to this new show. I also borrowed a killer [...]

An H&M Trampede for Comme des Garçons

November 13th, 2008 · 1 Comment

I’ve never seen a Rei Kawakubo garment up close, so I had to check out her Comme des Garçons stuff for H&M. She may not be one of my all-time favourite designers since she’s so intellectual and stuff, but she is pretty groundbreaking.
I rolled out of bed around noon and went over to the Bloor [...]

Andy Thê-Anh Opens Yorkville Boutique

November 12th, 2008 · No Comments

My fashion dreams have been answered. One of my favourite Montréal designers, Andy Thê-Anh, finally opened a Toronto store, a few mere steps away from my luxurious Minto condominium in Yorkville. Now whenever I have a cocktail party emergency, I know I can slip over to his store to satisfy my desires.
Last night Andy celebrated [...]

Rococo Cocoa at MoRoCo and Black Ties at Giller Prize

November 11th, 2008 · No Comments

Yorkville was a lively little area, with stylish glitterati and literati as bubbly as the Veuve Clicquot flowing freely at the launch of decadent chocolate salon, MoRoCo.
Elegant guests agreed that MoRoCo could very well be the best addition to Toronto’s culinary scene. We were treated to specialty chocolates paired with dessert wines, champagne, and cognac. [...]

Delivered to the Contractor

November 11th, 2008 · No Comments

I can hardly believe that I delivered all my patterns and fabric to my contractor. Now I just have to sit and wait for samples to get done. What should I do now? Work on PR? Design my next collection? Go out and celebrate?

Forever in Sparkles

November 10th, 2008 · No Comments

I spent all weekend sticking sparkles on tulle and now I’m covered in them from head to toe and leave a glitter trail wherever I walk. I kind of like it. Can I make this a permanent look? Are there such things as glitter tattoos?

Who knew eco-fashion could be so chic?
I spent my entire Monday pondering pleasantly sustainable surprises from a Saturday trip to the Sustainable Style Show and Green Gala, organized by Kelly Drennan from Fashion Takes Action. I spoke with the marvellous Miss Drennan and super-designer Sonja den Elzen from Thieves, who shared some Eco-Fashion Rules.
To be [...]

Sophisticated City by Lucinda McRuvy

November 10th, 2008 · No Comments

Oh dear. It seems as though the entire world is talking about this recession-thing. Personally, I cannot understand what all the fuss is about since everyone requires clothing. Being in the fashion industry is practically recession-proof, but over the last month, everyone has been asking, “How do I recession-proof my closet?”
Never fear, Dear Readers. I [...]
