Why You Should Choose An Aquagear Pitcher Over A Brita Pitcher

If you are comparing the aquagear pitcher to a brita water filter pitcher, you should not only look at price, but also how each unit works.  For starters, the aquagear pitcher uses a 2 micron membrane to filter water through, while the brita pitcher uses a charcoal filter.  For most homeowners, when they think of a water filter pitcher, they seldom even consider what type of filter a unit has.  However, if you are looking to purify your tap water and are looking for the best water filter on the market, then you will want to spend some time and consider the differences between the two technologies.  For starters, 2 micron filters are found in top of the line water filters, because they can remove even the smallest of particles and even filter out bacteria and microscopic particles from your water.

When it comes to price, charcoal filters are always going to be cheaper than membrane based filters, because charcoal based filters are made from byproduct or waste, such as coconut shells.  The coconut shells are roasted or blackened to make the charcoal and then pressed into form.  Because they are good at removing chlorine and large particles, they are often found in water filtration filters and are generally the first filters in a system.  However, to remove the smaller particles and bacteria, you absolutely need to use a membrane filter that is really small in diameter.
