Everything is working out so well for the shoot, but I hadn’t decided on a location until I drove my Vespa past the edgiest place in Canada: Queen and Bathurst. Nothing says “street” more than that intersection. I’ll bring the chic. The street will bring the background. Those punk kids sure have their own edgy look. I’ll get someone from the magazine to recruit some genuine punks and we’ll shut down Bathurst for the most memorable editorial shot in Canadian fashion history.

My New Work Team

Today I asked my campers if they’d like to create a real collection and they were all for it! Woo! I’ve got a work team now!

Sandee can totally be stuck in Ottawa filming Project Runway, but I’ll make my mark at L’Oreal Fashion Week again.

Working Class Camp

While teaching the design camp kids to sew buttonholes today, I came up with a BRILLIANT idea! They could help produce my samples! I’ve taught them well. They could do it! Now I know why I took this job at camp. Now I’ve got to get sketching. Hey…maybe I can teach them to make patterns too!

Street and Chic Models

I couldn’t be happier with the Street Chic shoot’s progress. The city’s top agencies sent their best girls to my model call. I even found one elegant, but edgy girl with jet black hair and an eyebrow ring. She was perfect. Maybe I should put all of the girls in black bobs. Or do I dare go for punky wigs? I’ve must speak with the hairstylists.

Problems Have Ways of Solving Themselves

I didn’t have to call anyone today; everyone came to me.

Word spread of my stunning Street Chic shoot and every designer in the city sent samples. I think I’ll have to call the Plutino Group to recruit my favourite stylist, Peter Papapetrou to help me choose the best of the best. While I’m at it, I’ll line up makeup artists and hairstylists as well.

Not only did I solve the styling problem, but I solved my television one. Actually, it solved itself. The production team called to say they wanted the show to go in Mimi M.’s trendy direction, so they offered to buy out my contract. But the great news is that I get credited as Creator and will receive residuals. This couldn’t be better. Perhaps I should take a trip somewhere to celebrate.

I’ll need to celebrate because I finally realized that plastic surgery was more a problem than a solution. I am done with it.

Wait, it’s August Already?

Holy crap! I’ve been so focused on my “real job” and Project Runway that I totally, completely forgot that I should have Spring/Summer 09 samples ready to show buyers by the end of the month! I learned last season that I need sales appointments, but there’s no way I can get it all done. What am I going to do?

Oh, I’m so, so sad! Project Runway doesn’t want me. But Sandee said she got a second callback. She’s a good designer, but why didn’t they choose me? My designs are so progressive. They’d be perfect for TV.

Street Chic Inspiration

After such a restful, relaxing long weekend, I’m inspired to pen my Street Chic article. I spent the day speeding through Toronto’s streets on my Vespa and soaked up the street culture. I’m sensing a Glam Femme Ultra Lux theme with a pinch of Jeanne d’Arc. Of course it will be all about the shoulders. This Fall it’s all about the shoulders. Tomorrow I’ll call the designers to check on some key items.

Beating the Heat

The heat from the sun and the television show combined was positively unbearable, so I spent the weekend pool hopping.

The first was the Four Seasons. How I do love lounging amongst Toronto’s visiting celebrities. I fit right in and they do a wonderful job of keeping out the paparazzi.

My second poolside adventure was at C Lounge’s outdoor VIP cabans. Always such a hip and elegant way to spend an evening, I do enjoy a night at the C, especially since they offer complementary makeup touch-ups.

The third was Bernie’s annual August Awesomeness Poolside Fabulosity party, which was absolutely fabulous, of course.

Caribana Weekend

This was the most colourful weekend I’ve ever experienced! Saturday’s Caribana parade was full of the BEST COSTUMES EVER! And the makeup…WOW! Amazing! Toronto felt so lively and cheerful. I loved it! Roti all weekend long! Mmmmm… Perhaps I can fit Caribana into my next collection.
